WEST AREA BADGE
This is the new West Area badge design for West Area scouts previously from the Clementi, Jurong and Bukit Panjang Districts to wear. The overall theme of the sunset is characteristic of the West Area for the sun sets in the West. With each passing day, the sunset never fails to return, representing the resilience of our West Area Scouts.
The 5 different shades of the sunset represent the 5 sections in Scouting. - from Cubs to Adult Leaders - and the progressive learning scheme that the West supports. The layering of colours is much like of the depth in our programme, with the vibrant colours often associated with sunset a metaphor for the striking and rich activities that the West provides.
To further tie in this design to the West, the blue triangle with the SSA logo in the centre was adopted from the classic Jurong Gateway in Sarimbun Scout Camp as the forefront for the badge. Nature and greenery is commonplace in the West Area, hence the silhouette of a forest was included. It also represents the love for the great outdoors that West Area Scouts share.
